Chair(s) TBC Introduction: This plenary will explore global action on non-communicable diseases (NCDs) through a prevention-focused, people-centred and life-course approach. Building on global commitments, including the Astana Declaration in 2018 on primary health care and the 2025 UN Political Declaration on NCDs, the session will highlight the growing burden of NCDs in the context of ageing populations, multimorbidity, rising healthcare costs and persistent health inequities. The discussion will position pharmacy as a key enabler of equitable access to safe, effective and affordable care within universal health coverage and primary health care systems. It will also consider how pharmacists can contribute to prevention, early intervention and improved health outcomes through vaccination, self-care, nutrition, gut health, inflammation management and support for healthier ageing. Explain the links between nutrition, the microbiome, inflammation and NCD prevention across the life course. 3. Discuss the role of vaccination across the life course in improving outcomes for people living with or at risk of NCDs. 4. Identify opportunities for pharmacists to support prevention, people-centred care, self-care and equitable access within primary health care and universal health coverage. Take home messages: Pharmacists are essential to prevention-focused, people-centred NCD care, supporting equitable access, self-care, vaccination, nutrition advice and early intervention across the life course.
