Organised by the FIP Education in collaboration with the FIP Board of Pharmaceutical Practices and FIP Board of Pharmaceutical Sciences Accredited by the Canadian Council on Continuing Education in Pharmacy (CCCEP) & the Ordre des pharmaciens du Québec (OPQ) Chair(s) Dr Naoko Arakawa, Vice President, International Pharmaceutical Federation, UK & Mr Luís Lourenço, Vice president FIP Board, Portugal Introduction: Human health and the health of planet are interconnected, and our human activities depends on both. To achieve optimal health outcomes of human and planet health, the “One Health” approach is required, which is a collaborative and multi-disciplinary approach across boundaries of animal, human and environmental health. Successful “One Health” approach will assist effective risk assessment and develop plans for response and control of emerging zoonotic disease, like COVID-19, and the impact on human health due to climate change. Such collaborative practice is required at all levels and sectors in pharmaceutical sciences, pharmacy practice, and education and training. However, this collaborative practice does not occur without overcoming unique challenges. Therefore, this session will provide an opportunity to share collaborative and multi-disciplinary/professional research, practice and education examples, and discuss unique challenges and solutions. Learning objectives: 1. To understand the importance of collaborative multi-disciplinary/interprofessional practice for planetary health. 2. To describe collaborative examples in pharmacy for improving planetary health. 3. To identify opportunities for collaboration at all levels of and between science, practice and education for sustaining planetary health. Take home messages: Climate change is the biggest threat to global health. Planetary health needs to be sustained and improved for achieving United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences have a huge role to play in this field. Successful contribution from pharmacy comes with effective collaboration multi-disciplinarily and inter-professionally. Examples of such collaborations in the session will provide some ideas in local settings of audience.
