Introduction:
The “Accelerating Towards 2030: Workforce Transformation for Better Health” symposium, held at the 81st FIP World Congress in Brisbane (26 September 2023), served as a critical milestone between the 2016 FIP Nanjing Conference and WHO’s 2030 Human Resources for Health strategy. During the symposium, participants from 40 countries across 6 WHO regions reached a consensus on Calls to Action (CstA), leveraging expert insights and data from the FIP Global Pharmaceutical Observatory (GPO) and FIP HUB.
Building on the Cape Town workshop in 2024, this session provides a strategic follow-up to:
• Assess progress on the CstA since Brisbane,
• Align CstA projects with FIP’s strategic plan 2025-2030,
• Engage HUB Leads to share updates and discuss challenges, and
• Define the next steps for achieving workforce transformation by 2030.
Programme:
14:30 – 14:50 | Introduction by the chairs |
14:50 – 15:35 | HUB leads presentations on CstA projects |
15:35 – 15:55 | Interactive group discussion and launch of the Global Situation Report on Pharmacy |
15:55 – 16:00 | Conclusions and next steps |
Learning objectives:
1. Evaluate progress on the Brisbane Calls to Action (CstA) and key outcomes from the Cape Town workshop.
2. Align CstA initiatives with FIP’s 2025-2030 strategic plan and FIP Development Goals (DGs).
3. Strengthen global collaboration to advance the UN SDG 2030 agenda, focusing on universal health coverage (UHC), health equity, workforce mobility, and capacity building.
4. Engage HUB Leads in structured updates on progress, key challenges, and proposed solutions.
5. Introduce the FIP Global Situation Report on Pharmacy to highlight key workforce trends and inform the next steps.
6. Define priority actions to accelerate CstA implementation and support FIP Member Organisations and regional forums.
Take home messages:
By the end of the session, participants will have a clear understanding of HUB and its projects and how its strategies align with global health priorities leading up to 2030. This session also offers a platform to introduce FIP’s Global Situation Report on Pharmacy (GSRoP) and identify priority actions to drive implementation, regional collaboration, and alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
