Organised by International Sports Pharmacists Network Chair and Speaker: Ashley Anderson, RPh, MBA, IOC - Drugs in Sport Certificate Introduction: This open meeting and introductory session strives to reinvogorate pharmacists' love for their profession by infusing it with the passion for sports. Following an introduction to the history, growth and future of sports pharmacy, including FIP publications and past FIP webinars, attendees will hear about practices of sports pharmacy in acute care / perioperative care, community pharmacy, and the pharmaceutical industry. The Passing of the Torch will take place to the next annual Torch Bearer, a young and prominent sports pharmacist. The symposium will end with a guided networking session. Learning objectives & Take home messages: By the end of this sessions, attendees should be able to: 1. Describe Sports Pharmacy. 2. Recognize the FIP Guidelines "The Role of the Pharmacist in the Fight Against Doping in Sport". 3. Identify patient populations, in addition to athletes, who benefit from pharmacists' knowledge of exercise physiology, anti-doping, and sports medicine. 4. Network through grassroots efforts by pharmacists aspiring to encourage a fitness-focused lifestyle. All FIP Congress registrants are welcome!
