Ignacio Aznar-Lou

Postdoctoral Researcher

Ignacio is a postdoc researcher at the PRISMA research group in the Research and Innovation Unit from the Parc Sanitari Sant Joan de Déu in Sant Boi de Llobregat (Spain). He holds a PhD in Pharmacy (University of Barcelona, Spain). He is researcher from the Consortium of Epidemiology and Public Health, institution dependent from the Spanish Health Ministry.His research interest are focused on the use of Real World Data for the study of pharmacoepidemiology (medication adherence in particular) and economic evaluation based on pragmatic clinical trials. He has lead several projects dealing with the analysis of RWD to estimate the use of healthcare services, costs and effects. Ignacio is member of the Spanish Association of Health Economics. 


Henk-Frans Kwint

Community Pharmacist / Researcher

Henk-Frans studied pharmacy in Groningen from 1988 and obtained his pharmacy diploma in 1996. Immediately afterwards he started as a second pharmacist at the sister organization of SIR, the academic Pharmacy Stevenshof in Leiden and still works there. In 2001 he became managing pharmacist and since 2015 director.

In 1997 he took his first steps in the field of pharmaceutical practice research at SIR as a tutor in the SIR masterclass. In 2007 he started doctoral research in the field of medication assessment and medication on a roll (“Baxter”). On 29 May 2013, he obtained his doctorate for this research at Utrecht University. As a follow-up to this, he supervises the PhD research within SIR in the field of medication assessment (Sanne Verdoorn) and medication on a roll (Bram Mertens) as co-promoter.

Henk-Frans was a member of the SIG asthma/COPD of the KNMP from 1998 to 2000. From 1997 to 2001 he functioned as FTO Pharmacist-Coordinator (FAC) of the FTO regional team Rijnland&Midden-Holland of DGV (now IVM). . From 2010 to 2012, he participated in the working group that developed the multidisciplinary guideline “Polypharmacy in the elderly” and was the author of the chapter on medication assessment within this guideline.

Fernanda Stumpf Tonin / WK1

PhD

Fernanda holds a PhD in Pharmacy (University of Lisbon, Portugal) and PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences (Federal University of Paraná, Brazil). She is an integrated Researcher at the Health & Technology Research Center (H&TRC), Escola Superior de Tecnologia da Saúde, Instituto Politécnico de Lisboa (Portugal) and the principal investigator of the Group of Health Technology Assessment (NATS-UFPR) from the Brazilian Ministry of Health. She has co-authored over 75 papers in referred journals and currently participates in a range of national and international projects on evidence synthesis and research methods. Fernanda is the Vice-chair of the Pharmacy Practice Special Interest Group of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP). She also provides scientific consultancy in clinical research, health economics and market access (eEpi Health Consulting and Training, Portugal). 


Charlotte Verner Rossing / WK2

Professor

Charlotte Rossing MSc, PhD (Pharm), FFIP, HM PCNE, graduated from the University of Copenhagen, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences in 1998. She holds a PhD degree in Social pharmacy: “The Practice of Pharmaceutical care in Denmark – a quantitative approach”. Charlotte serves as a Fellow of FIP, since 2020, and as honorary member of PCNE since 2022.

Charlotte Rossing is the Director of Research and Development at Pharmakon, The Danish College of Pharmacy practice. Her focus is on research, development and implementation of pharmaceutical care activities in pharmacy practice. Furthermore, she is responsible for the continuing education and professional development for pharmacist and pharmacy technicians in Denmark. At present, she co-supervise three PhD students in pharmacy practice, and has acted nationally and internationally in PhD review committees.


Marcel L. Bouvy / WK3

Professor

Prof. Marcel L. Bouvy (1966) obtained his PharmD at Groningen University in 1992 and his PhD at Utrecht University in 2002. In 2009 he was appointed as professor of pharmaceutical care at the department of Pharmacoepidemiology and Clinical Pharmacology at Utrecht university. In this function he is chair of the Utrecht Pharmacy Panel for Education and Research (UPPER), which coordinates all internships and pharmacy practice research. Since 2016 he is member of the Dutch Medicines Evaluation Board.

Marcel is active in several national and international committees and platforms aiming to improve the safe and effective use of medicines. He is past president of the research committee of ESCP, past president of the Scientific Section of Dutch Community Pharmacists (WSO), founding member of the European Society for Patient Adherence, Compliance and Persistence (ESPACOMP) and member of the editorial board of the International Journal for Pharmacy Practice.

Marcel research activities focus on patient adherence, medication safety and include both observational work and evaluation of innovative pharmacy interventions. Marcel is (co-)author of >350 papers in peer reviewed and national pharmacy journals, both professional and consumer oriented book (chapters) on medicines and research reports.


Victoria Garcia Cardenas / WK5

PhD, MPharm, PharmD

Victoria is a Senior Lecturer in Pharmacy at the University of Technology Sydney.  Her teaching and research interests encompass different aspects of health services research such as medication adherence, the evaluation and implementation of professional pharmacy services and practice change in pharmacy. She has co-authored over 60 papers in refereed journals and 70 conference presentations. Victoria has participated in a range of national and international research projects for the evaluation and implementation of professional services in community pharmacy, with a special focus on medication adherence.

Victoria is Chair of the Pharmacy Practice Research Special Interest Group of the International Pharmaceutical Federation. She is a an Associate Editor for Research in Social and Administrative Pharmacy and an active member of the Pharmaceutical Care Research Group at the University of Granada (Spain).


E.R. Heerdink / WK6

Associate Professor

Dr E.R. (Rob) Heerdink PhD is an associate professor of Clinical Pharmacoepidemiology at the Utrecht Institute for Pharmaceutical Sciences, Utrecht University and professor of Innovation of Pharmaceutical Care at the University of Applied Sciences Utrecht. He is principal investigator of the Centre for Clinical Therapeutics. His research is driven by questions from clinical practice and spans from traditional pharmaco-epidemiological methods to systems pharmacy research into context related aspects of pharmacotherapy. He has published over 250 peer-reviewed articles on topics including (psychiatric) pharmacotherapy, drug exposure patterns, adherence and the relation between pharmaceutical care and clinical outcomes and has served as co-promotor for over 30 PhD students. Dr Rob Heerdink is a founding and honorary member of the European Society for Patient Compliance and Persistence (Espacomp).

Fernando Fernandez-Llimos

Professor

Fernando Fernandez-Llimos is professor at the Laboratory of Pharmacology, Department of Drug Sciences at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Porto, and integrated member of the CINTESIS – Center for Health Technology and Services Research.

Fernando Fernandez-Llimos graduated in Pharmaceutical Sciences by the Complutense University (Madrid, Spain) and obtained his PhD in Drug Research and Development with focus on Drug Information by the University of Granada (Spain). He also obtained Master in Sciences degrees by the University of Santiago de Compostela, the University of Valencia, and a MBA by the Vigo Business School. He obtained the Habilitation in 2019 by the University of Lisbon (Portugal), where he was professor and member of the Institute for Medicines Research (iMed.ULisboa) for 12 years.

His research interests are about drug information, with special emphasis on evidence synthesis, and in design and assessing clinical pharmacy services. He shares these interests with a passion by the sea, being scuba diver instructor and sailing skipper.



Shane Desselle

Professor

Shane Desselle is Professor at Touro University, California College of Pharmacy. He also is President of Applied Pharmacy Solutions. He has years of experience in pharmacy practice, in academia, research, consulting, publishing, program development, and grantsmanship. He co-edits Pharmacy Management: Essentials for All Practice Settings, 5th ed, the most widely used pharmacy management text. He is founder and editor of Research in Social & Administrative Pharmacy and has served on the editorial boards of several international journals. Dr. Desselle recently served as a Fulbright Specialist Scholar where he helped inform the creation of a Centre for Assessment with the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Pristina in Kosovo. He has developed mentoring programs for pharmacists, pharmacy students, pharmacy academicians, and pharmacy technicians. He has published over 100 original research articles and nearly 300 conference presentations. Dr. Desselle recently (2019) won the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy Sustained Contribution Award in social and administrative sciences. He has taught courses in health care systems, health care economics, social/behavioral pharmacy, research methods, and pharmacy management.


Ellen Koster

Doctor

Dr. Ellen Koster works as an associate professor in pharmacy practice research and education at the Department of Pharmacoepidemiology & Clinical Pharmacology, Utrecht University. In her work she aims to connect science, education and practice in the field of rational medication use, with a special interest in adherence, patient provider communication and healthcare innovations in primary care. 


Ross Tsuyuki

Doctor

Dr. Ross Tsuyuki was born and raised in Vancouver, Canada. His training includes:

· BSc(Pharm) from the University of British Columbia

· Residency at St. Paul’s Hospital, Vancouver.

· Postgraduate Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from the State University of New York at Buffalo

· Postdoctoral fellowship in cardiovascular clinical trials in the Division of Cardiology at McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario (Supervisor: Dr. Salim Yusuf)

· MSc in Health Research Methods from McMaster University

Dr. Tsuyuki is currently Professor and Chair, Department of Pharmacology in the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Alberta. He is also a Professor of Medicine (Cardiology) and Director of the EPICORE Centre in the Department of Medicine.

Dr. Tsuyuki has received several awards for teaching and mentorship, as well as appointment as a Fellow of the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists (FCSHP), the American College of Cardiology (FACC), the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences (FCAHS), and the International Society of Hypertension (ISHF). In 2005, he was recognized as the Canadian Pharmacist of the Year by the Canadian Pharmacists Association.

Dr. Tsuyuki is currently the President of Hypertension Canada.

His research interests include interventional health services research and in the provision of support for other researchers and training the next generation of health researchers, which is provided through his research group, EPICORE Centre (www.epicore.ualberta.ca).


Martin Schulz

Professor

Martin is the the Director, Department of Medicine, ABDA - Federal Union of German Associations of Pharmacists; Director Pharmacy, German Institute for Drug Use Evaluation; Chairman, Drug Commission of German Pharmacists, and Adjunct Professor Institute of Pharmacy, Freie Universität Berlin, Berlin, Germany.

He studied Pharmacy and Medicine at the University of Hamburg and received his PhD in pharmacology. He is Board Certified in Pharmacology (1989) and as a Drug Information Specialist (1993).

Research interests: medication effectiveness (adherence/safety) in cardiovascular and respiratory disease management, in particular, and drug utilization/ pharmacoepidemiology. He has published over 550 papers (>100 peer-reviewed) and presented appr. 480 talks and posters, all over the world.

He is a Honorary Member of the Pharmaceutical Care Network Europe (PCNE) and received Fellowships from the European Society of Clinical Pharmacy (FESCP) and the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FFIP). In 2013, he received the FIP Distinguished Practice Award and in 2020 FIP’s highest Pharmacy Practice, the André Bédat Award. In 2020, he received the 1st Prize for the Best Publication of the Working Group Chronic Heart Failure of the German Cardiac Society (DGK).


Tinne Dilles

Associate Professor

Dr Tinne Dilles is Associate Professor Health and Nursing Sciences, University of Antwerp. Her ambition is to improve the quality of pharmaceutical care and related patient outcomes, starting from the role of nurses, in close collaboration with pharmacists, physicians, patients and their family. She has more than 50 scientific publications, about 6 PhD students, several national and international projects. She strongly cares about the valorisation of research results in clinical practice. 

She is a lecturer research methodology, statistics and pharmacotherapy at the faculty of Medicine and Health Care Sciences, responsible for over 45 credits of the master in nursing and midwifery program. She is the chair and cofounder of NuPhaC a strong international network of experts in nursing and pharmaceutical care.


Nienke Dijkstra

Researcher/Lecturer

Dr Nienke Dijkstra is a researcher and teacher at the Bachelor of Nursing Program at the HU University of Applied Sciences. As a home care nurse she experienced interprofessional pharmaceutical care from the perspectives of patients and home care nurses and the challenges they have. Nienke Dijkstra is an international board member of the international network Nurse and Pharmaceutical Care (NuPhaC). 

In 2018, Nienke Dijkstra received the 'Promising Nurse' award issued by the Sigma Theta Tau International organization, for combining and relating aspects of her work in clinical practice, education, and research. She is a consultant for geriatric care and prevention in the Academic Nurse Centre in Primary Care in Utrecht, where she collaborates with nurses and team managers of general practices and home care organizations and teachers with the aim to innovate interprofessional collaboration and the prevention of geriatric problems, such as medication-related problems.
