A safe space for all
We are committed to ensuring that all participants feel welcome and protected, regardless of their level of openness about their identity. This includes attendees who:
● are not publicly out
● work in environments that may not be fully supportive
● require additional discretion for personal, cultural, or professional reasons
● prefer to participate quietly or with minimal visibility
Every attendee has the right to engage in the conference in the way that feels safest and most comfortable for them.
To support this, we will:
● Provide optional name badge formats for those who prefer reduced identifying information
● Avoid photography for attendees who ask not to be included in promotional or social materials
● Ensure that all official photos focus only on individuals who have opted in
● Offer quiet spaces for reflection, privacy, or decompression
● Have no recommended or required dress code - the event will be completely casual and participants are invited to dress for their own comfort and happiness!
We encourage all participants to be mindful of the diverse needs of others and to avoid sharing identifiable information about fellow attendees without explicit consent.
Respectful conduct
We expect all attendees, speakers, sponsors, and staff to uphold a culture of respect, confidentiality, and inclusion. Harassment, discrimination, or outing of any individual — intentional or otherwise — will not be tolerated.
Your safety matters
Melbourne has been selected as the setting for the inaugural conference and has a reputation for being an excellent setting for conferences of all sizes with a safe and welcoming culture. Melbourne is a very inclusive and diverse city with relatively low risk for some of the more vulnerable potential attendee. The range of excellent facilities, efficient public transport, plentiful and diverse accommodation options see Melbourne consistently sitting at or near the top of lists of the world’s most liveable cities, which makes it a pleasure to visit too.
If at any point you feel unsafe, uncomfortable, or need support, our conference team is available to assist discreetly and respectfully. Your presence at this event is valued, and your safety is or primary goal.
