- Dr. Desselle has his pharmacy and his PhD in social/behavioural pharmacy degrees from University of Louisiana Monroe.
- He is currently Professor and Associate Dean for Research and Professional Affairs at Touro University California College of Pharmacy.
- He is Founding Editor of Research in Social and Administrative Pharmacy and Exploratory Research for Clinical and Social Pharmacy.
- Dr. Desselle is a Fulbright Special Scholar. He researches and assists in the establishment of various mentoring programmes, in addition to research on pharmacy workforce and on organizational culture in various pharmacy settings.
- Dr. Desselle co-edited the text, Contemporary Research Methods in Pharmacy and Health Services. He recently shared the honour of winning the Wiederholt Award for best paper in the Journal of the American Pharmaceutical Association.
Fernando Fernandez-Llimos is Professor at the Laboratory of Pharmacology, Department of Drug Sciences at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Porto, and integrated member of the UCIBIO - Research Unit on Applied Molecular Biosciences. He graduated in Pharmaceutical Sciences by the Complutense University (Madrid, Spain) and obtained his PhD in Drug Research and Development with focus on Drug Information by the University of Granada (Spain). He also obtained Master in Sciences degrees by the University of Santiago de Compostela, the University of Valencia, and a MBA by the Vigo Business School (Spain). He obtained the Habilitation in 2019 by the University of Lisbon (Portugal), where he was professor and member of the Institute for Medicines Research (iMed.ULisboa) for 12 years.
His research interests are about drug information, with special emphasis on evidence synthesis, and in design and assessing clinical pharmacy services. He shares these interests with a passion by the sea, being scuba diver instructor and sailing skipper.
Martin is the the Director, Department of Medicine, ABDA - Federal Union of German Associations of Pharmacists; Director Pharmacy, German Institute for Drug Use Evaluation; Chairman, Drug Commission of German Pharmacists, and Adjunct Professor Institute of Pharmacy, Freie Universität Berlin, Berlin, Germany.
He studied Pharmacy and Medicine at the University of Hamburg and received his PhD in pharmacology. He is Board Certified in Pharmacology (1989) and as a Drug Information Specialist (1993).
Research interests: medication effectiveness (adherence/safety) in cardiovascular and respiratory disease management, in particular, and drug utilization/ pharmacoepidemiology. He has published over 550 papers (>100 peer-reviewed) and presented appr. 480 talks and posters, all over the world.
He is a Honorary Member of the Pharmaceutical Care Network Europe (PCNE) and received Fellowships from the European Society of Clinical Pharmacy (FESCP) and the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FFIP). In 2013, he received the FIP Distinguished Practice Award and in 2020 FIP’s highest Pharmacy Practice, the André Bédat Award. In 2020, he received the 1st Prize for the Best Publication of the Working Group Chronic Heart Failure of the German Cardiac Society (DGK).
Emeritus Professor S.I. (Charlie) Benrimoj B. Pharm (Hons), Ph.D. F.P.S., FRPSGB, FFIP was the Foundation Professor of Pharmacy Practice (1991), Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy (2000 to 2005), Pro-Vice Chancellor (Strategic Planning) (2006 to 2011) University of Sydney and Director and Head of Graduate School of Health at the University of Technology Sydney (2011- 2018). He is currently a visiting professor at the University of Granada. He is an emeritus professor of the University of Sydney (2011 – present). Research interests encompass the future and the delivery of professional cognitive pharmaceutical services from community pharmacy in current and emergent health services. These include the provision of drug information to consumers and other health care providers, self-care, clinical interventions, patient medication reviews, disease state management systems, Pharmacy and Pharmacist Only Medications and international pharmacy practice.
He was the Australian Pharmacist of the year in 2000. He has been active at international level as the Chair, SIG Pharmacy Practice Research, Board of Pharmaceutical Science, International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP 2016-2019), Chair, Innovators Forum International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP 2006-2015)). He was awarded the Andre Bedat Award International Federation of Pharmacy (FIP), the highest award attainable by a pharmacist for significant international contribution to pharmacy practice, a FIP Fellowship in 2007, a Fellowship of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain in 2008 and a Fellowship of the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia, 2008.
